& Recent Federal Government analysis has identified 48 suburbs of highly concentrated socioeconomic disadvantage in Sydney. & Sydney has the suburbs with both the highest (Claymore) and lowest (Milsons Point) deprivation scores. & One in three women in Sydney will experience physical violence in her adult life and nearly one in five will experience sexual assault. & Indigenous women are more than twice as likely to be victims of sexual assault and four times more likely to be victims of assault. & In Sydney, 85 per cent of residents live with the impact of mental illness, either their own or that of a family friend. & 81.8 per cent of migrants from Haiti, 71.4 per cent of migrants from Rwanda and 52.7 per cent of migrants from Afghanistan in Sydney have a weekly personal income of less than $250. & The average monthly home loan repayment in Sydney has increased 42 per cent to $1800 since 2001, an increase not matched by income growth. Sydney Community Foundation takes a proactive role by addressing these and other alarming statistics which reflect the state of Sydney’s social landscape.
