Strategic giving Donors can establish a strategic giving program and support and engage with identified projects in their community during their life time. The range of charitable possibilities is broad, encompassing youth at risk, young families and in particular social issues facing women and children, the aged, Indigenous and culturally diverse communities, nature and the environment.
Efficiency Providing support for community organisations is more efficient when the Sydney Community Foundation does the work for you. Th Sydney Community Foundation calls for applications, reviews the organisations seeking funding, makes the grants and monitors the progress of the projects being funded. A report can be provided to the donor detailing the impact the grant has made on the community.
Simplicity One gift to the Foundation, which is invested in perpetuity, over time can support a large number of diverse charities.
Continuity Through its structure, as an independent trustee selected for its community standing and knowledge, the Foundation provides continuity. Donors can be assured that the funds they have donated will continue to be managed responsibly and used to support the community even long after they have gone.
Investment Expertise Donations are pooled and invested by a reputable, professional fund manager subject to strict policy guidelines set by the Board.
Tax Benefits The Foundation acts as trustee to its Tax Deductible Fund and its General Fund and has endorsement by the Australian Tax Office to be an Income Tax Exempt Charity ( ITEC ) and a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). Thus donations made to its Tax Deductible Fund can offer important tax advantages.
Cost Effectiveness With an overall annual administrative fee of only 2% for subfunds under one million and 1.8% from one million to five million, the Foundation provides a cost-effective alternative compared to the establishment fees and ongoing costs for a private foundation. Fees for subfunds over five million are negotiable.
Donor engagement with like-minded people Through its networks, the Foundation can connect donors, if desired, with each other and to a variety of groups and issues that are of real concern in their community.
