The Marrickville Community Fund, a subfund of the Sydney Community Foundation, provides the Marrickville community with the opportunity to build an endowment fund and give back to the community they love. It builds a permanent trust where citizens and businesses can donate funds that are then invested in perpetuity. Interest generated will be given through grants to projects of benefit to the local community. These projects could address social, cultural or environmental needs, encouraging community participation and growth.
The Fund will have an Advisory Committee who will be responsible for raising the profile of the Fund, canvassing donations, and in time, making recommendations on projects they would like the SCF to consider in grantmaking. This Committee will be an independent body and participation is voluntary.
Role of the Advisory Committee
The role of the Marrickville Community Fund (the Fund) Advisory Committee is to: promote the Fund; attract funds and funding applications; advise the trustee on the allocation of funds; and ensure open, fair and transparent governance.
Terms of Reference
The Community Advisory Committee will:
& promote the Fund with the aim of attracting both funds and funding applications
& educate and engage with the Marrickville community, increasing their support of the fund
& work in the interests of those experiencing disadvantage in our community, as well as in the interests of the wider Marrickville community
& promote the values of social justice, diversity, participation, access and sustainability within the Marrickville community
& be guided by the outcomes of Marrickville Council’s community consultation, planning and research
& maintain the highest standards of governance, ensuring that all dealings are open, fair and transparent
& ensure the fund is always represented as a sub-fund of the Sydney Community Foundation.

The Sydney Community Foundation acts as the trustee of the subfund and has legal responsibility for the investment and management of the funds.
