The Marrickville Community Fund is a newly created subfund of the Sydney Community Foundation (SCF). The Marrickville Community Fund has been established to raise and distribute funds specifically within the Marrickville Local Government Area.
A local Advisory Committee for the Marrickville Community Fund subfund of the SCF has been established which will have the vital role of connecting members of the local community with the subfund. This group of citizens will play a key role in raising the profile of the subfund and fundraising to build the endowment. It will also advise the SCF Board on the priorities for distribution of grant monies.
The first meeting of the Advisory Committee was held on June 3 and all involved were very excited to see the vision for the Marrickville Community Fund becoming a reality. The Advisory Committee will focus over the coming months on developing the strategy for the Fund.
Nominations are now being sought for two further additional members of the Advisory Committee. Nominations from both residents and non-resident workers are welcomed. Above all, members of the Advisory Committee should be proud of the Marrickville community, understanding of the value in creating a perpetually endowed fund and willing to work with others to encourage and engage local individuals, businesses, indeed, anyone with a connection to the Marrickville area, to give.
