The Sydney Women’s Fund, a subfund of the Sydney Community Foundation, works for a community where all women and girls achieve their potential, live safely without fear of discrimination or disadvantage, and enjoy the full benefits of life in Sydney.
Sydney Women’s Fund Advisory Council
The Sydney Women’s Fund is proud to announce it has established its first Advisory Council, a group of influential Sydney women and men from multiple disciplines and diverse backgrounds whose mission is to effectively address the needs of all women in Sydney.
The Sydney Women’s Fund Advisory Council will assist the fund to meet its goals. It will do this by:
· Working with the fund to understand the concerns of women in Sydney and the role the Sydney Women’s Fund can play to effect positive and lasting community change
· Raising awareness of issues of inequity and disadvantage for Sydney women
· Fundraising to increase financial investment to address these issues.
The Advisory Council met for the first time in November at which it agreed on the first projects to be funded.
Launch of the Sydney Women’s Fund Inaugural Projects
In February 2011, the Sydney Women’s Fund will launch its inaugural projects at an intimate lunch for women donors. These projects will invest in the lives of low-income and marginalised women so they, in turn, can increase their own control of their lives and enrich the lives of their children.
“The SCF Sydney Women’s Fund is growing a wave of philanthropy to improve the lives of women and girls in Sydney. We invite you to join us as we build our community by investing in women.” – Rosalind Strong, Chair of the Sydney Community Foundation.
