In April 2008 the SCF presented two cheques to organisations working to deliver improved social outcomes for different groups within the Sydney community.

Making Grandfriends in Campbelltown's primary schools
Grandfriends are senior citizens who volunteer in primary school classrooms once a week, helping with children with literacy, numeracy, art and other activities.

Community action shows it’s easy to be green
The 'GreenHome' project promotes environmentally sustainable lifestyles in the Sydney community (in conjunction with the Australian Conservation Foundation).

Kids off the street … and into sport: Midnight Basketball
This is an innovative, new project aimed at reducing crime and finding positive outcomes for vulnerable youth. The first pilot was run in Redfern.

Supporting Grandparents raise their grandchildren
There are over 40,000 families in Australia, where the sole care of the children is provided by the grandparents. Funds support these grandparents, by providing access to financial, educational, legal and health information and other services.

Young, Black and Deadly
Young, Black & Deadly comprises three training workshops covering music and performance for young indigenous musicians and performers aged between 8-18 years, conducted by professional indigenous artists.

Westcare
This is an ongoing project in Western Sydney run by Westcare Emergency Services, supplying food hampers, but also educating the recipients by providing free budget and debt counselling. The Foundation provided a small grant to purchase badly needed refrigeration equipment for the Westcare centre.
