As they make the journey to manhood, Thrive empowers young boys to make positive life choices, including respect for themselves and the women in their lives.
From Year 6 through high school, Thrive, run by Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections, has created a safe place to maintain healthy relationships, build confidence and discover practical new skills.
Working with at-risk boys, the underlying philosophy is engaging with education and learning how to walk away from conflict, and do so with pride.
Running for three years now, Thrive has given 86 boys, often limited by family financial constraints, a chance to participate in structured activities and strong male mentors guiding them to a better future.
Over the years this program has partnered with NRL Australia, Cricket Australia, and Charity Bounce giving students a variety of activities, in addition to woodwork, cooking, sports, competitions and community events.
Having learned from their mentors, older students are encouraged as positive role models for younger boys entering the program.
Thrive has become an invaluable mentoring program for students moving through LNC activities, keeping kids connected and strengthening their sense of belonging in the community.
