Bricks and Smiles – the Zac Minty legacy fund
Bricks and Smiles is a legacy project in memory of Zac Minty, an 11-year-old boy whose dream was to give kids facing cancer the chance to pick out their dream LEGO sets and escape cancer treatment, even momentarily, through creating something wonderful.
Over the years, building with LEGO brought Zac much joy during his cancer treatment and helped him regain fine motor skills. Because of nerve damage caused by a chemotherapy drug, Zac had difficulty walking and using his fingers. His occupational therapist prescribed LEGO as a way to regain function and it helped, and Zac loved it. Sadly, Zac passed away from Rhabdomyosarcoma on May 29, 2022, after a nearly 3-year battle.
In memory of Zac, his family has created this sub-fund to raise money to buy LEGO sets for children undergoing cancer treatment. They want to give these children the opportunity to pick out their dream LEGO sets and have them sent to them. Bricks and Smiles also aims to fund children’s cancer research, particularly sarcomas, for which there have been few advancements in treatment options in the last two decades.
On behalf of Zac’s family, we hope that you will donate to the Bricks and Smiles – the Zac Minty legacy fund to help make Zac’s dream of helping other kids undergoing cancer treatment a reality.
