Supporting young people to enhance their skills & leadership potential
Our family established the John Skipper Kelly Fund in 2010, in memory of our father – John Skipper Kelly, who passed away in an accident on 30th December, 2010. John was a passionate man who affected many through his exuberance for life and his determination to make a difference where he could. In the latter part of his life, this was working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Why we started a sub-fund with Sydney Community Foundation
The values of the Sydney Community Foundation align well with the JSK Fund. The SCF structure allows us to continue to raise funds, and distribute them to our preferred charities.
What we do
The focus of the JSK Fund is providing opportunities for young people from a range of backgrounds so that they may contribute to their communities in a positive way.
Our achievements
Over the past 9 years we’ve raised over $400, 000, much which we’ve distributed to projects and organisations in line with our mission.
In recent years we have supported the Aurora Project which arranges for law and social science students to undertake internships with indigenous organisations and the Oz Green Youth Leading The World program, which trains young people to tackle environmental problems facing the world today.
What's next?
On 6 March 2021, we are hosting the JSK Ball in Sydney, celebrating 10 years of the JSK Fund and raising funds to continue supporting young people to use their skills to identify and address issues facing their communities. For more information visit our website at: http://jskfund.com.au/jsk-ball
