If you want to help build ‘a better Sydney’ you may like to consider starting a Sydney Community Foundation sub-fund or collective giving circle with your family, colleagues and friends.
Sydney Community Foundation provides tax deductibility for your sub-fund and our board ensures all grants go to good purpose in line with the causes that you elect.
As a Public Ancilliary Fund, sub-funds of Sydney Community Foundation are able to fundraise unlike Private Ancillary Funds.
We connect our donors with grassroots organisations across Sydney, that make a real and lasting impact.
The Maybanke Fund is one of our sub-funds and is named after Maybanke Anderson.
The sub-fund was founded by Rosalind Strong AM, Chair of Sydney Community Foundation. Rosalind founded The Maybanke Fund in her memory of her great, great aunt and through the sub-fund continues to support causes Maybanke fought for.
The Maybanke Fund supports access to good early childhood education and funds scholarships for Indigenous early childhood educators.
The Maybanke Lecture held each year on or around May 6; the date of Maybanke’s first public speech is set to become Sydney Community Foundation’s annual philanthropy lecture.
This year, The Maybanke Lecture will be held at Customs House and delivered by Lucy Brogden, Patron of Sydney Community Foundation’s Sydney Women’s Fund.
The City of Sydney supports the work of Sydney Community Foundation and has sponsored this event. This annual lecture celebrates one of Sydney’s heroines whose community driven values that are as relevant today as they were one hundred years ago and are very much inline with those of Sydney Community Foundation.
The Sydney Community Foundation encourages Sydneysiders to give and help make a difference where the need is greatest.
