In 2018, the Sydney Community Foundation’s Sydney Women’s Fund’s influential “Conversations for Change” event series merges with the popular Insight event program to give greater voice to contemporary issues relevant to all of us who live local in Sydney and beyond.

Insight proudly supports the Sydney Community Foundation (SCF) with full proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the SCF Women’s Micro Business Incubator for disadvantaged women.

Now in its fourth year of production, Insight by The Office Space is a business talk series that brings together innovative entrepreneurs and business leaders to explore burgeoning topics and reveal the secrets of their success under a monthly theme.

Traversing all aspects of business across the fields of design, film, innovation, technology, finance and marketing, the sell-out program has featured speakers such as actor, Susie Porter; dual Archibald-winning artist, Del Kathryn Barton: Qantas industrial designer, David Caon; producer, Jan Chapman; graphic designer, Vince Frost and City of Sydney Counsellor, Jess Scully.

With 90 guest speakers over the last 3 years, there have been no shortage of inspiring, insightful, revealing and surprising moments.

The Insight 2018 Program

This February The Office Space re-commences its popular Insight program by exploring The Future of the Workplace, and how technology, design and sociology are all converging to create new iterations of the workplace. 

Naomi Tosic, Co-founder of The Office Space, will host an expert panel of workplace innovators: Angela Ferguson, Managing Director of Futurespace, Stuart Munro, Change Director at Montlaur, and James Dellow, Chieftech at Digital Workplace Company.

The March Insight will explore #IWD2018 and Women in Business, interviewing two inspiring women and one brave man, from a diverse range of personal and business backgrounds.

With a flurry of women’s events all over Sydney this month, we wanted to get your attention by curating an extraordinary Insight panel:

• The woman who runs this town, CEO of the City of Sydney, Monica Barone;

• The woman turning the monthly into a chance for positive social and environmental change, Modibodi founder Kristy Chong; and

• The man who bravely presented The Future Laboratory’s Female Futures Forum to an arena of highly influential women in Melbourne and Sydney this February, Barry Mowszowski.

For this month only, we are breaking from our usual Tuesday evening Insight slot to host on Friday 23rd March, from 11-11:30am in the Golden Age Cinema, followed by our Insight panel interview in the Golden Age Cinema from 11:30-12:30pm.

The Business of Words is the focus of April (coinciding with the Sydney Writers’ Festival) with a panel of communications experts from the TV, mass communications and literary arenas.

In May, The Business of Brand will be explored, looking into the increasing importance of brand in the ever expanding, increasingly competitive business environment. Join a brand strategist, luxury brand designer and brand “evangelist” in discussing brand building.

The Film Business panel looks to be as entertaining as it will be insightful in May. In collaboration with the Sydney Film Festival, interviews with an actor, a director and a producer shed light on all aspects of the business of Film.

July’s The Business of Finance promises to explain and explore the concept and reality of bitcoin and digital currencies, with some real life Crypto-millionaires and a blockchain programmer.

In August The Business of Marketing panel brings talent from some of Sydney’s top creative, strategic and digital agencies together to discuss various aspects of marketing from networking to pitching, SEO and digital media strategies.

The Business of Design for September investigates the business of Design from different design fields such as fashion, architecture, industrial and graphic.

The Business of Innovation in October (coinciding with Spark Festival Sydney) shares insights from tech start-up success stories emerging from the vibrant entrepreneurial community.

TO close our the 2018 program, November we will explore The Business of Ethics, looking into the philosophy behind ethics, morality in the work place.
