KIP kids and their families encourage generosity
Kids in Philanthropy, a sub-fund of Sydney Community Foundation, is an initiative aimed at connecting children with charitable projects in their own city.
‘We decided that we wanted to find a group of kids similar to ours, similar in age but obviously different socio-economic status, and start to get our children to build relationships with them,” Ms Nelson says.
The families have each pledged $5000 a year, a total of $50,000 annually, to seed a project in south-western Sydney which will run after-school classes for four primary schools in Fairfield. The money pooled by the ”giving circle” will buy computers, fruit and provide other amenities for the program.
